CPS has supported the Griffith Centers for Children for more than 10 years. Griffith provides assistance to Colorado’s most severely troubled children and families in need of human services. With treatment centers in Larkspur and Colorado Springs, Griffith serves children from birth to 21 and provides Family Preservation services for hundreds of residents in 32 Colorado counties.
Griffith currently has a 70% success rate with children in residential treatment and serves over 1600 children and families annually. This program is literally the “last chance” for most of these young people who suffer from mental health disorders, abuse and violent tendencies. We, at CPS, are very proud of our association with Griffith Centers. One of our CPS board members also serves on the Griffith Centers Board of Directors.
Every year, Griffith hosts “Peak Challenge” the first weekend in August. Peak Challenge is an ascent of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks on behalf of emotionally troubled children. Over the past 20 years, Peak Challenge has contributed over $1.5 million to Griffith Centers for Children’s programs. Although the event is physically challenging and not for everyone, the rewards to the participants are great, particularly knowing that they are making a difference in the lives of thousands.
